This is a great sewing foot

I ordered the Picot Foot for my Brother sewing machine and wondered why I never used this foot before now. It does a spectacular job of finishing even the most delicate, sheer fabric with a flat or rolled hem that doesn't frey at all.

If you sew with a straight stitch, the resulting hem is flat. If you use a small zig zag stitch the result produces a rolled hem. It's GREAT!

First thread the beginning end of the fabric with a needle and thread, so you can straighten and keep the fabric taught by holding the thread with your left hand. Then feed the fabric into the guide and begin to sew. This is especially helpful when it is necessary to begin feeding sheer fabric through the foot. After a few stitches you can release the needle and thread and proceed to the end. Stiff fabrics may not need this initial step.

this is little foot gets used more than some of the other feet that came with the sewing machine. Perfect for finishing edges, esp for little girl dresses.

Does not work with SE400

This item's description is misleading; the Brother website indicates that this is for machines with 5 mm feed dogs, which the SE400 is not (it is a 7 mm feed dog machine). If you own a SE400, you should be getting the Brother SA164 7mm Picot Foot.
